Towards eco-efficient forestry

Many Konecranes customers have made ambitious commitments to environmental sustainability. They include long time forestry clients like Edanesågen, part of the Moelven Group and one of the parent company’s suppliers of raw materials for wood-based construction.

Moelven as a whole has made its sustainability progress and goals clear and public, and pursues sustainability in all aspects of its operation because it’s the right thing to do—and the right way to stay competitive. Recently Edanesågen added the Konecranes E-VER emission-free forklift to their fleet. Here’s what some of their people have to say about it.

“The right product at the right time”

“We’ve had a long working relationship with Konecranes. We bought our first lift-truck in the mid-90’s, and have been happy customers since then. But now we’re in a new era, where environmentally-responsible operations are more important than ever. This feels like the right product at the right time, and from the right people.

We run 3 shifts a day, and have a fleet of nine Konecranes forklifts—eight diesel, and now our first electric. We’re very excited, and believe very much in it. Forestry is a sustainability industry, so it makes sense that we invest heavily in always building our capabilities. We’re part of our industry’s growth in this area. But E-VER is going to be fun to follow for other reasons as well—it’s going to be less noisy for our neighbors, and our operating costs are going to go down.”

I have been working with it for some time now, and I can tell you it’s very comfortable, quiet, and has great sight lines. The very biggest difference with diesel performance-wise is in the braking, which is incredibly responsive in the E-VER. This is the future—it just is. I think every driver should be operating an E-VER.”
