Portlink Logistics Centre Ltd., part of the MGH Group in Bangladesh, has ordered two Konecranes E-ACE 6/7 ECC10 DS electric empty container handlers. These electric lift trucks, now available globally, are scheduled to be delivered to the customer’s container yard in Chattogram by the end of Q3 2025.
The operator of South Asia’s largest inland container depot, Portlink Logistics Centre Ltd. aims to lead Bangladesh’s logistics industry on the journey to lower CO₂. The two new Konecranes E ACE 6/7 ECC 10 DS electric container handlers will join the company’s existing fleet of three Konecranes reach stackers, expanding Portlink’s operations while reducing emissions and operating costs.
The Konecranes E ACE 6/7 ECC 10 DS is the fully electric version of the Konecranes Liftace empty container handler. With zero tailpipe emissions, the electric version helps customers reduce their CO₂ footprint and meet sustainability goals. Modern high-voltage technology makes the battery highly energy-efficient, enabling operation for 6-12 hours before recharging. Up to 15% of expended energy can be regenerated and stored for later use.
The electric version also offers dynamic driving, meaning up to 20% faster lifting speeds and acceleration versus diesel-powered trucks. Noise and vibrations are reduced by as much as 50%, significantly improving the driver’s comfort. The spacious cabin is one of the quietest in the industry.
Each of the two units ordered by Portlink is equipped with TRUCONNECT® Premium, including a system for tire pressure monitoring. Keeping tires at the correct pressure improves safety, reduces fuel consumption and extends tire lifetime. Portlink will also gain real-time insights into energy consumption, battery usage and other equipment metrics.
“This investment supports our sustainability targets without compromising on performance. Over time, we expect a significant reduction in operational and maintenance expenses. The longer the machines are in use, the lower our total cost of ownership will be,” says Syed Iqbal Ali, CEO at MGH Group.
The order was facilitated by local entity Konecranes and Demag (Bangladesh) Ltd. Since Portlink first invested in Konecranes equipment in 2020, reliable support on the ground has continued to strengthen customer confidence in the Konecranes portfolio. Portlink began its emission reduction journey with Konecranes by equipping its three reach stackers with Power Drive – a feature that lowers fuel consumption by 10–15%, thereby being the first Bangladeshi customer with this feature.
Supporting both the CCS and GB/T charging standards – enabling full recharging in approximately an hour – the Konecranes electric empty container handler new range is now available across all major container handling markets. Initially introduced in Asia Pacific, the electric range was later rolled out in the Middle East and Africa and Latin America. At the TOC Europe event in Rotterdam, Konecranes launched the same model for customers in Europe and North America – making it a truly global product.
“We’re pleased to support Portlink’s sustainability journey with this order for our latest addition to the Konecranes Ecolifting family. The company’s investment reflects growing market readiness for electric container handling and sets the benchmark for the wider region,” says Jeffrey Foo, Regional Manager, Konecranes Port Solutions.
This contract is part of Ecolifting, Konecranes’ vision to increase its handprint – meaning the beneficial environmental impact that can be achieved with our product and service portfolio – while reducing customers’ carbon footprints. From eco-optimizing diesel drives, to hybridization and fully-electrified fleets, we will continue to do more with less.
A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a material handling industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
