The one place you never want to cut corners is on safety

Your safety is very important to us, and we design all our products, spare parts and services with safety clearly in mind. Lift trucks usually operate in demanding environments full of risks – but these risks can be minimized. Think of your people – your most valuable resource – then take a closer look at our safety upgrade packages. These solutions can help make your working environment healthier and safer for everybody. Better safety increases performance and productivity, now and into the future.

This is why Konecranes offer ready-to-go safety upgrades that helps addressing some of the most common risks in a lift truck operation. It's time to not just service your truck, but to improve it.

Below are some examples of our upgrades related to safety. Contact your nearest Konecranes lift trucks distributor to discuss your safety needs.

Risky business?

There are many hazards and risks in operations involving people, machines and heavy loads moving around in the same area. Some of the most common are:

Reverse warning alarm

Truck backing up - Maneuvering backwards is always harder than going forwards, in part due to limited field of vision.

The reverse camera kit that can give you eyes in the back and get rid of blind spots, is also very useful when reversing.

When visibility is low, a reverse warning system can help prevent accidents by making the driver aware of obstacles in the lift truck’s path. The ultrasonic obstacle detection system automatically senses objects, pedestrians and other machines, and provides the driver with visual and acoustic alarm signals in the cabin.

Bluespot awareness

Yard staff - In a busy yard there is often people nearby who are doing other tasks and might not be watching for lift trucks.

In busy and noisy situations, it’s not always easy to spot a moving lift truck in time. The Blue Point Awareness System enhances safety by creating an extraordinarily bright spot on the ground a few meters ahead of the lift truck, giving coworkers and pedestrians a clear warning of approach.

Fire suppression system

Engine overheating - Component malfunction or overheating pose a fire hazard in the engine compartment

Prevent fires from spreading with our automated fire suppression system for engine compartments. Should a fire break out, due to electrical malfunction or overheating, high pressure water mist is released immediately for a choking and cooling effect.

Reverse camera

Congestion - The chance of collision is higher in busy areas

In congested and busy areas is sometimes hard to have a clear view of what you have around, expecially if you're driving a lift truck and reversing. With the reverse camera upgrade kit you can finally have your eyes in the back and avoid possible obstacles and collision during your maneuvre.

And if the view is not enough, you always have the visual and acoustic alarm signals with the installation of the reverse warning system.

Work zone

Human error - Miscalculations sometimes happen, because nobody’s perfect

With Work Zone - a suite of location-based services designed by Konecranes to improve the safety of lift truck operations, especially in busy, hightraffic environments - you can remotely control lift trucks and their height limitations, speed limits and other safety matters inside computer-defined areas. Work Zone uses GPS technology to create geofencing – virtual fences around real-world areas. Drivers can see selected alerts on their operating display and you can also send the alerts by SMS or email to chosen recipients.

Ignition Alcolock

Impaired driver - medication can interfere with driving skill, as well as drinks consumed the night before.

Safety starts with a suitable driver. The onboard Konecranes Alcolock breath analyzer detects alcohol use with a 99% certainty rate, and prevents unsuited drivers from operating any lift truck or machine. The alcolock is compact, works in any temperature and can be retrofitted to any Konecranes lift truck.
