Konecranes has been working closely with the paper and wood industries since the 1920s. 

Today, we offer the most complete and technologically advanced paper and wood handling equipment in the world. It comprises a full range of lift trucks, fork and carriage combinations, fork-shaft systems, bale clamps, roll clamps and other attachments.
Konecranes overhead cranes work in concert with our lift trucks for a fully integrated solution. 

At your sawmill, optimize your Konecranes forklift for drier feeding, handling wood packs in your warehouse, or taking finished goods to trucks or other vehicles for your distribution operations. Lifting with stability and strength, our wood-handling forklifts can carry two to four wood packages at a time. Optional extras include special fork-leveling carriages to keep sensitive wood products flat during transit, and special filters to protect the oil and hydraulics from sawdust.

Pulp is a key intermediary stage in the production and recycling of paper. Konecranes forklifts can be fitted with a rotator to enable your drivers to empty containers full of woodchips destined for pulping. An expandable bale attachment mounted on the fork shaft can handle multiple pulp bales in one lift with a capacity of up to 15 tons. A tilt feature adds to your bale handling flexibility for more precise positioning of the load when you need it.

When are moving your paper rolls in or out of storage, sensors on your Konecranes forklift collect key operational data to manage functions and reduce the risk of damage. A soft-touch paper clamp grabs the roll, but the truck cannot move until the roll is off the ground. Auto-tilt keeps the rolls vertical while in motion, and when the ground is detected, the lowering motion stops, preventing friction from the clamp on the roll. The clamp opens automatically when the roll touches the ground. 

The Konecranes E-VER electric forklift is the perfect choice for wood, pulp and paper processing facilities. Compact and easy to maneuver, with no tailpipe emissions and low noise, it can be used both inside and outside on your production site.

Reducing paper roll damage

Working closely with leading pulp and paper companies, we have developed a unique system to improve the handling of paper rolls. A programmable microprocessor is at the heart of the system. Sensors collect key operating information, and the information is sent to the display in the cabin. The system reduces damage to the paper rolls with functions such as automatic opening of the paper clamp attachment when the roll touches the ground, and automatic prevention of lift truck movement until the rolls are off the ground.
